Steps for Earning a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL):

  1. Medical Class II Certification: Begin your journey by obtaining a Medical Class II certificate, ensuring you meet the health standards for piloting.
  2. Computer Number Application: Apply for a unique computer number, a prerequisite for DGCA examinations.
  3. Creation of eGCA Login Credentials: Register on the eGCA portal to access your aviation records and manage your licence progress.
  4. Ground Classes: Enroll in our ground classes to build a strong theoretical foundation in aviation principles.
  5. Clearing DGCA Exams: Successfully pass the exams conducted by DGCA to move closer to your CPL.
  6. Medical Class I Certification: Upgrade to a Medical Class I certificate, a requirement for commercial pilots.
  7. Simulator Sessions: Gain valuable experience with our advanced flight simulators, honing your flying skills in a controlled environment.
  8. Flying Training (200 Hours): Complete at least 200 hours of flying training, mastering the art of flying and cementing your skills as a pilot.

Ground Classes Overview

Duration: 3-6 Months

Ground classes are the cornerstone of your pilot training, offering deep dives into critical aviation theories and practices. At Dunes Aviation Academy, we take immense pride in our pedagogical approach, ensuring each trainee develops a robust understanding of aviation fundamentals. Our training methodology, aligned with the DGCA syllabus, emphasizes safety and professionalism, preparing you to handle the responsibilities that come with the pilot’s seat. The following subjects are covered:

1. Air Navigation

2. Aviation Meteorology

3. Air Regulation

4. Technical Specific Papers (pertaining to aircraft systems)

5. Radio Telephony (including practical examinations for FRTOL – Flight Radio Telephony Operators Licence)

Flying and Simulator Training Overview

Duration: 8-12 Months

Our commitment to excellence extends to our flying and simulator training, where we exceed standard requirements to maximize training efficiency and quality. Safe, regular, and effective, our program is designed to complete within 8 to 12 months, covering:

CPL Program with Multi Engine Endorsement:

  • 100 hours as Pilot-in-Command.
  • 20 hours of cross-country flight as Pilot-in-Command.
  • 10 hours of instrument time (max 5 hours on a simulator).
  • 5 hours of night flight, including ten take-offs and landings as Pilot-in-Command.

CPL with Instrument Rating and Multi Engine Endorsement (CPL with IR):

  • 100 hours of flight time as Pilot-in-Command, including specific requirements for cross-country and circuit-landings.
  • 50 hours of cross-country flight as Pilot-in-Command.
  • 50 hours of instrument time (max 20 hours on a simulator).
  • 5 hours of night flight, including ten take-offs and landings as Pilot-in-Command.

Examination Details:

  • Flying Checks: Conducted by the CFI or a DGCA-designated examiner, adhering strictly to DGCA regulations.
  • Written Exams for Ground Subjects: Scheduled by the DGCA, typically twice a year.
  • Radio Telephony Licence Test: Administered by the Department of Telecommunications (DOT), as per their schedule.

* Radio Telephony is conducted by WPC (Wireless Planning Coordination Wing) on regular basis to obtain FRTOL (Flight Radio Telephony Operators License).
